Emmerdale fans were left baffled last night as mysterious millionaire, Tom Waterhouse’s, big secret was finally revealed and it is – drumroll – that he’s behind the planned golf course in the village.
Oh.
Since Tom arrived and began romancing Debbie Dingle, fans have been speculating like crazy about who the hunky newcomer could be. And since he dropped that now famous line about not digging a grave to leave it empty, the fan theories started coming thicker and faster.

Some fans thought he could be dead villain Carl King’s son back to take revenge, others thought he could be dead villain Cameron Murray’s son back to take revenge and others thought he could be dead villain Chris Tate’s son back to…you get it.
But last night Tom revealed that he was the developer behind the proposed golf course that’s threatening the Dingle family’s home, Wishing Well Cottage.
After arriving back from apologising to Debbie for standing her up Tom addressed a group of people having a soiree in his hotel suite.
He said: “I promise I haven’t just been outside working on my golf swing, although I certainly will need the practice if I’m to own my own golf course.”
Councillor Morris, who was one of Tom’s guests, added: “I think our little problem is about to go away,” referring to Zak and Lisa Dingle refusing to move out of their cottage, which Tom wants to tear down to make way for an access road.
Morris was seen earlier offering the Dingles and even larger sum of money to move out of Wishing Well Cottage and, while Zak is still adamant it’s not happening, Lisa was beginning to waver.
But Tom’s big reveal left viewers feeling more than a little let down after all the speculation that’s been doing the rounds.
One disgruntled fan tweeted: “The Tom twist in #Emmerdale is so underwhelming that I actually didn’t see it coming…So there’s that. #emmerdale #dull #nobodycaresaboutthegolfsite”
Another agreed, adding: “If Tom is just a sexy developer, I’ll be disappointed. #Emmerdale.”
A third hoped that this isn’t the only thing Tom’s hiding: “So he’s behind the golf course and….there better be an and….who is he???!”
While a fourth thought the whole redevelopment plot was very similar to another soap beginning with ‘E’. “Really, the golf course was the big secret Tom had,” they wrote on Twitter: “Come on I thought it was going to be more better than that! It’s almost reminding me of eastenders they both want to knock things down to build on top of it.”
Tom’s secret was unveiled after he bailed on watching the village Christmas light switch on with Debbie. He sent henchman, Graham, to tell her he couldn’t make it as he was sick.
Smelling a rat, Charity – who had been due to meet Tom – followed Graham to Tom’s hotel where she saw him greeting a glamorous brunette.
Assuming the worst, she dashed back to tell Debbie that she was the other woman and an angry Debbie confronted Tom over his lies.
He admitted he had fibbed to her, but only because he didn’t want to meet her family yet. He also dropped the L-bomb on Debs who’s been narked since she said it to him and was fobbed off.
