Coronation Street fans react to Peter and Toyah split

Toyah's not in the viewers' good books

Last night’s trip to Coronation Street saw Toyah desperately trying to salvage what is left of her relationship with Peter. But it doesn’t seem like soap fans are too worried about the pair getting back together…

With Toyah desperately holding on to the hope that things might work out between her and Peter once the dust had settled, she decided to call her counsellor friend over to see if she could mediate a meeting between them.

Pretending that she was organising a meeting about Peter’s sale of his half of the pub, Toyah lured him round, only to be confronted with questions about them getting back together.

But the baby lies that Toyah cooked up with Eva have left poor Peter shattered and as far as he’s concerned their romance is over.

After Toyah let Peter believe that little baby Susie was his own daughter, his world was turned upside down when it was revealed the baby he’d been raising as his own was actually Eva and Aidan’s little girl.

And when it comes to Corrie fans, there is no doubt which side they’re on when it comes to Toyah and Peter’s split…

Not only do most fans think Toyah is to blame and deserves everything that’s coming to her, but they also think Peter is better off without her in his life.

Actor Chris Gasgoyne, who plays betrayed Peter, has revealed that he also thinks things are over for good between the pair…

“I can’t see how he can ever forgive her. They have been through such a lot together and he truly loved her but this is another level of betrayal.

“Peter has done some crazy things in his time but I think this even transcends anything he has done. What she did was really cruel and it has made him question whether he even knows this woman at all.”

He also admitted that Toyah’s attempts at counselling was never going to work with Peter…

“He’s stunned really that she thinks this is something that can be fixed through counselling. He thinks she is the one that needs counselling not him and he is not in the headspace where he is ready to talk to her calmly about any of this.”
