Corrie fans have been left shocked after it appeared the ITV soap had predicted the recent announcement that the Spice Girls are set to reunite.
Viewers are convinced that Coronation Street writers must have a sixth sense after a number of timely references were made to the 90s girl band in tonight’s visit to the cobbles.
Yesterday it was announced that the world-famous girl group would be reforming – but with Corrie filmed more than six weeks in advance, the show’s bosses couldn’t have known how perfectly timed their storyline would be.
Fans were stunned as they watched a scene between Sally Metcalfe and her sister, Gina Seddon, where they were talking about using “girl power” to change a flat tyre.
Gina insisted that they could change the tyre and that they didn’t need help from the men at the garage.
“We can do it! There weren’t any men in the Spice Girls,” she said.
But Rosie Webster responded: “Yes, and the Spice Girls weren’t mechanics!”
Gina hit back instantly and laughed: “Come on Sal, Spice up your life!”
Fan’s took to Twitter to share their surprise..
Little did the Corrie cast know that the very same day Sally and Gina’s conversation would be aired, the Spice Girls would announce a reunion that is set to earn them all £10 million each.
The five women enjoyed a long overdue catch-up at Geri Horner’s house in Hertfordshire on Friday afternoon, before posting a string of pictures to social media showing them all together.
It’s the first time Victoria Beckham, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton, Geri and Melanie Brown – have all been seen together since 2012.
