Fans have hit out at Piers Morgan after he appeared to criticise US singer Ariana Grande for returning home following the Manchester Arena attack instead of “comforting the victims”.
The controversial presenter spoke about the singer on Twitter but many of his followers seemed to strongly disagree with his comments.

Singer Katy Perry wrote on Twitter: “God bless The Queen and her kind heart #StayStrongManchester.”
To which Piers, 52, said: “Agreed. Might have been nice if @ArianaGrande had stayed to do the same.”
In reply to another user Piers added: “I expected her to stay, visit & comfort her wounded fans & relatives of those who died.”
But many of his followers were quick to hit back at the Good Morning Britain host defending Ariana, 23.
One wrote: “You have no idea what she is going through. She’s entitled to be scared and traumtized too, to need her family [sic].”
“She will have been devastated, in shock herself. It isn’t as simple as you think Piers,” said another.
A third tweeted: “Ever thought about her being shaken up by it, how do you expect her to comfort someone if she’s not fine herself. Think Piers. Think.”
“Seriously you are a nasty individual Morgan. Just think for a moment that maybe she’s been severely traumatised by this as well,” a fourth ranted.

But others seemed to actually agree with the star with one writing: “Agree with Piers.”
“To be fair, I don’t always agree with @piersmorgan but in fairness, he does have a good point here,” another said.
A third added: “Well said Sir, well said.”
Ariana flew back to her home in Florida shortly after the terror attack that took place on Monday evening.
22 fans, including eight-year-old Saffie Roussos and 15-year-old Olivia Campbell, were killed after suicide bomber Salman Abedi detonated a bomb as thousands of fans starting leaving the pop star’s concert.
Ariana spoke about her heartbreak over the attack on Twitter saying: “broken. from the bottom of my heart, i am so so sorry. i don’t have words [sic].”
Just yesterday the singer’s manager, Scooter Braun, issued a statement on Twitter following the tragic attack.
He wrote: “Manchester I stand with you. Jakarta I stand with u..children of Syria I stand with you. We will honor you by not giving in to the darkness.
“With extraordinary evil we must fight with extraordinary greatness. Fight on. Goodnight world. Tomorrow I live full.
“I will honor all of u by laughing loving and living. Living full for every wonderful innocent child whose life was taken too soon.
“Am I angry? Hell yes. But how will we respond? With everything you think you took from us… love and joy and life!”
