It’s been eight years since Jamie Hope left the Dales, but he’s not been forgotten by his on-screen dad.
Emmerdale star Tony Audenshaw, who plays Bob Hope, has revealed that he’d love to see the character return to the soap – believing there was more to explore.
Do you know something we don’t, Tony?
Speaking to Inside Soap about the Emmerdale co-star he’d most like to see back, Tony replied: “Alex Carter, who played Jamie Hope. I absolutely love Alex. He’s a brilliant mate – and I reckon the potential of that character is something that was never really looked at properly.”

He went on to say: “I think he’s just such a fabulous actor and so funny. Alex has that natural comic ability that is often hard to find.
“It’s not always about fancy dress – sometimes you just need actors who can get a laugh out of nothing, and Alex can do that.”
Alex Carter starred as Jamie from 2006 to 2010, and hasn’t been seen since – even missing his dad’s imminent nuptials.

He’s the second child and oldest son of Bob Hope. His mum was Bob’s first wife Jean (yes, he’s had a few wives!).
His major storyline revolved around his affair with Louise Appleton, who was 17 years his senior. He left Emmerdale with her, heading for a new life in Australia.
While that didn’t work out and he soon returned, he eventually left the village for a fresh start in Newquay.
After leaving the ITV soap, Alex returned to his role as Lee Hunter in Hollyoaks, and later appeared in In With The Flynns, Give Out Girls and Cuffs.
