Fans of Sinead O’Connor would have been happy not to see the Irish singer in the press recently – as invariably it means she’s having trouble with her mental health.
Unfortunately, that run of progress seems to have been curtailed as O’Connor appears to have threatened to take her own life, over social media.
On Friday night the mum of four posted an update to her Facebook page saying that child and family agency Tusla will have a “dead celebrity on their hands” if they continue to keep O’Connor’s young children from her.
The singer has four children. Her eldest, Jake, is 30 and her daughter Roisin is 21, but her two youngest are classed as minors.
Her emotional plea came after Tusla made the decision to keep her youngest child away from their mother.

And the singer, who last hit the press in 2016 after she went missing in Chicago, has blasted the governmental agency, saying: “Open letter to the Irish State and its torture wing, Tusla.
“If matters are not corrected and I am not restored to my child and unconditionally apologised to by the State and for what Tusla have most illegally, and with great discrimination, put me through as a parent who suffers from mental illness.
“Then I promise you in the name of God I will become the first Irish citizen to take their life in protest against Tusla on behalf of all mentally-ill parents who have been similarly tormented.
“You’ll have a dead celebrity on your hands, and a lot of explaining to do.”
She continued her argument: “I will not go quietly. But I WILL go. After all documents are published which show what has been done to me if things continue as they have been for 18 months.
“You have left me with nothing to lose. I CANNOT be what ANYONE, including my employers, my children, my family or friends, needs me to be if I am not restored to my child.”

The performer then went on to insist the removal of her child from her care has played a central part in her mental illness getting worse.
“I would never have become so unwell if I had not been kept from my child. I would not have remained unwell for so long had I been restored to him.”
Thankfully, in a follow up post on Sunday, Sinead revealed she was getting excellent care from her doctors:
“Also my current psychiatrist is an angel,” she wrote as part of another lengthy post. “He watches over me very well, and has me going to a good day hospital where I am receiving really loving and supportive suicide prevention treatment.”
O’Connor has reportedly tried to take her own life before. It was reported that she had made an attempt in Ireland days before Christmas 2015, and has spent most of the last year living in the US.
The Mirror also told how the troubled singer had to sell her house earlier this year to make a €160,000 settlement with the Irish Revenue Commissioners, due to the underpayment of PRSI and PAYE.
