Betty Turpin’s hotpot is a Corrie institution – generations of Weatherfield residents have been comforted by one of her steaming bowls in the Rovers.
And while the barmaid may have gone to meet her maker in 2011, her legendary Lancashire dish lives on.
After her wake, Sean was moved to discover that Betty had bequeathed her secret recipe to him and it’s been nourishing locals ever since.
Now, the meaty dish has become central to Michelle’s revenge plot against Steve.
Viewers were rightly appalled when she delivered the recipe scrawled on a piece of paper to Robert and suggested they begin serving it in the Bistro.

One even went so far as to describe the move as treason!
Actress Betty Driver, who played the Corrie legend for 42 years, actually had her own secret Lancashire hotpot recipe.
After her death, Simon Gregson – who worked alongside her in the Rovers for many years as Steve McDonald – revealed that she had passed it on.
“We’ve actually got the recipe for Betty’s hotpot,” he said. “The recipe was written on a piece of paper she’d had for years.

“I’ve cooked her hotpot for my wife Emma and it was lovely. It’s now one of my signature dishes. But there was a lot of lard in it.”
Indeed, the traditional fayre is so engrained in Corrie history that in 2010 Betty’s Hotpots went on sale to mark the Street’s 50th anniversary.
Little wonder it’s got so many people riled!
