After a 10-year absence from V Festival, Pink set the stage on fire – quite literally – when she headlined at Chelmsford’s site last night.
The 37-year-old singer got the party started by plummeting to the stage from a crane. But ahead of her flying entrance, a firework hit the roof of the stage and started a blaze.
An onlooker said: “It started off small but then kept growing until a bloke climbed up to the top to put it out.”
Ever the professional, Pink carried on regardless. However, it seems the incident did throw her a little, as half-way through the fifth song, latest single What About Us, she appeared to forget the lyrics.

She later told fans: ‘It usually takes me about four years to learn a song. I wish I’d stop shaking thank you for having me 10 years later. I forgot so many words tonight.”
Despite the hiccups, the majority of the crowd were wowed by the mum-of-two’s 90-minute set, which saw her belt out hit after hit, duet with Spotify-tipped star, James Gillespie, zorb across the audience and perform acrobatics while flying through the air on a wire.
Not everyone was happy, though.

Those standing to the left of the set found the sound being drowned out by music being played on fairground rides and Rudimental, who were performing on the nearby MTV stage.
One fan who was at the festival told ED!: “If you were standing in the middle or to the right of the action, like we were, the sound was perfect.
“But after the performance, we heard a lot of people complaining that they couldn’t hear Pink properly as she kept being drowned out by the noise from the other stage.
“It seems the stages were positioned too close to each other this year. It’s a shame because people paid a lot of money to see Pink.”
Let’s hope they iron out all the creases for tonight’s performance at Weston Park, Staffordshire!
