Emmerdale: First look at Charity’s flashback ep

Charity was put through hell as a teenager.

Emmerdale has revealed the first look at its Charity Dingle flashback episode.

In a spoiler clip posted on the soap’s website, Charity accidentally reveals the fact that she had another baby when she was just 14 in a row with Harriet Finch, which is overheard by her girlfriend Vanessa.

As Vanessa reels from what she has overheard, Charity drives off as she thinks about what happened to her at 14.

The flashback episode begins showing Charity living in DI Bails’ flat and being pimped out as a prostitute.

The special episode won’t shy away from tackling Charity’s horrific past and will show young actress Mica Proctor as 14-year-old Charity as the story of how she had another baby is revealed.

Last month viewers watched as The Woolpack’s landlady told Vanessa the truth of her abusive past with Bails.

As a result of the abuse, Charity gave birth to a son, who she since revealed to Harriet had died.

Speaking about her character’s special episode, actress Emma Atkins revealed: “It’s such a brilliant opportunity for me to explore Charity’s past and a chance to discover why Charity behaves the way she does a lot of the time.

“It’s stuff that’s been locked away for years, very painful stuff, and she finally feels able to talk about it.”

Emma added:  “It’s obviously the hardest storyline I’ve had due to the subject matter and I am duty bound to play it as truthfully as I can.

“If it in any way helps give anyone out there who’s suffered any kind of abuse the strength to open up, even just to talk about it, then that can only be the start of a good thing.”

Emma also revealed that the stand alone episode will drop another bombshell about Charity that no one knows.

Speaking on This Morning earlier this month, she said: “At the very end of the episode the audience are left with this incredible nugget of information that nobody else knows and I love it when they do that.”
