Boxing superstar Frank Bruno was rushed to hospital after being struck down with illness on a flight to Doha, Qatar, earlier this month.
The star was on the way to give talks at four events in Thailand when he fell ill.

Frank Bruno in mid-air emergency
The boxing legend is currently recovering after being rushed to hospital some two weeks ago. The star, 63, had been on a flight to Thailand via Qatar when he began to feel feverish.
Frank was fine when he boarded the plane — but quickly went downhill during the flight.
After landing in Doha, Frank was treated by airport medics, who rushed him to a hospital 10 miles away.
Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “Frank was fine when he boarded the plane — but quickly went downhill during the flight. He was in a really bad way and they were unsure what the problem was. It was extremely worrying as it was mid-flight so he was stuck on the plane.”

Frank was ‘in a bad way’
The source then continued.
“Paul and Frank thought it might be food poisoning, but it turned out to be worse than that. Frank was in a bad way and was sweating profusely and had fever-like symptoms. Paul was worried but was doing his best to keep him calm. He was treated on the flight to Doha, in the airport and then at the hospital,” they then said.
“Doctors were really worried and carried out all sorts of tests, including for meningitis. They then diagnosed him with a viral infection, which at least meant they could start treating him,” they then added.

Frank ‘frustrated’ and ‘disappointed’ following illness
Doctors kept Frank in hospital for two weeks and even took his passport off him so he couldn’t leave until he was better. By the end of his two weeks in hospital, the boxing legend was reportedly getting frustrated and bored as he fought to get better.
However, thankfully, he is “now on the mend”.
In a statement to ED!, Frank’s representative Dave Davies said: “Frank is frustrated he cannot work, improving a little every day and the office team still running the Frank Bruno Brand!
“Frank really disappointed he had to let so many people down as we understand each show has been a sell-out!” he then added.
Frank speaks out
In a tweet earlier today (Friday, March 21), Frank addressed his illness.
“Morning so my illness story is out! Now you know why I have been quiet on social media. The last three weeks have been tough especially not knowing what was wrong with me and a viral infection can mean loads of things. Between Dave in the office and me we’ll keep you informed,” he said.
“At the moment I am told I cannot go to work so for the jobs last week and this weekend please accept my apology. However, the office is telling me most bookers want to transfer the booked dates. The office tells me already this morning hundreds of messages from well-wishers so thank you. Can’t wait to get back to work,” he then said.
