Film fans are up in arms after plans to remake comedy favourite Home Alone have been revealed.
Reports claim the 1990 blockbuster starring Macaulay Culkin is among several kids’ movies set to be rebooted by Disney for a new streaming service.
Other 20th Century Fox film franchises set to be given a makeover include Night at the Museum, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Cheaper by the Dozen.
It was previously announced that Disney classic Lady and the Tramp will also be overhauled, becoming a live action film with CGI effects.

Disney CEO Bob Iger told press the original films will be “reimagined” for a new generation.
But many users vented their frustration and outright opposition to the John Hughes and Chris Columbus festive comedy being “messed with” on social media.
“Home Alone is a classic. Just leave it alone,” demanded one fan.
“Leave Home Alone well alone,” insisted another.

A third furious sceptic raged: “NO @Disney NO! You can not remake #HomeAlone… stop [bleep]ing with classic movies and come up with some original stuff! Home Alone is perfect as it is so LEAVE IT ALONE!”
A fourth person agreed: “Rebooting Home Alone shows they’ve no new ideas.”
And another doubter contributed: “Home Alone’s main magic comes from Macaulay Culkin, and that slapstick comedy from the 90s that just won’t be the same in this time!”
Another Twitter user took issue with the idea that a remake would not pull in an audience, highlighting the success of a recent cinema release.

“If they re-make Home Alone, people are going to go see it. YA’ll LITERALLY JUST WENT TO SEE LION KING LAST WEEK!” they posted.
However, it was also pointed out that any update set in the 21st century rather than 1990 may stumble on a few crucial plot points.
“I’m thinking Disney’s Home Alone remake will be over in 30 secs when the parents call the kid’s mobile when they realise they left him behind,” one person noted.
Streaming service Disney+ is scheduled to launch in the US in November and in the UK in 2020.
Disney+ will also include content from both the Star Wars and Marvel franchises.
