The phrase ‘chip off the old block’ has never been more appropriate than in the case of Noel and Liam Gallagher’s offspring.
Just like their rock-star dads, Noel’s daughter Anais, 17, and Liam’s lad Gene, 16, don’t seem to be getting on terribly well at the moment.
Or, at least, that’s the impression we get from a series of tweets posted by Gene after Anais traversed the catwalk at a Tommy Hilfiger fashion show on Tuesday.
In an echo of his father’s social-media rants, Gene ripped into his cousin, making cruel jibes about her looks and claiming she was part of a “kids’ culture club”.
Clearly riled by Anais’ appearance at the event, Gene sneered: “Whoever got to choose who got to model for Tommy Hilfiger is a complete doughnut who should go to Spec-Savers.”
And in the cruellest way possible, he then elaborated on what he meant by that.
“Firstly, u look like ur dad [with a] blonde wig on,” he mocked.
“Secondly, u model coz u look like ur dad, not coz of who u are. Nobody cares about who u are. Lmao.”
He added: “Never will u ever see me attend [that] celebrity-driven, posh rubbernecking, kids’ culture club.”

And just like his old man has on numerous occasions, Gene – whose mother is All Saints singer Nicole Appleton – found himself at the centre of a storm over his cutting comments.
While some people thought the jibes were amusing, the majority seemed to take sides with Anais – Noel’s daughter with his ex-wife Meg Mathews.
One person tweeted: “The difference in u and your deadbeat dad is [that] Anais and @NoelGallagher have dignity and class… something youse will never have. #NoelMadeOasis.”
Another thought Gene’s accusations were a case of the pot calling the kettle black: “Says the kid who wouldn’t have any followers without his famous dad.”
And a third advised: “Dude – you’re just another celebu-spawn. No one gives a [expletive] what you think. Sit down, boy.”

Gene and Anais haven’t always been at loggerheads – a photo posted on Anais’ Instagram page (see main picture) shows them perfectly content in each other’s company.
But then, that was the same with Liam and Noel when they were in Oasis, wasn’t it. One minute, they seemed to be getting on like a house on fire, the next they were battering each other or storming off stage in a huff.
Ironically, Liam told The Telegraph last month that he was afraid his Twitter ramblings would be his downfall.
He admitted: “I could kill my career every [expletive] weekend when I get on that Twitter or talk in interviews.
“But it is what it is. People want a bit of [expletive] honesty. Everyone’s sick of [expletive] politician [expletive] rock ’n’ roll stars who are saying one thing one minute and not saying it the next.”
Well, judging by Gene’s tirade, it sounds like he’s taken his dad’s advice…
