Much has been made of the Strictly ‘curse’ – the supposed jinx that has seen a number of showbiz couples come unstuck after one of the partners appeared on the BBC dancing show.
But one person who won’t be losing any sleep over it is Gemma Atkinson.
The former Emmerdale star, 33, is dating Spanish professional dancer Gorka Marquez, 27, who she met during last year’s series.
And, although Gorka is set to perform again this year with another celebrity partner, Gemma says she’s not worried about it damaging their relationship.
Earlier this month, Gemma spoke candidly about her romance with the handsome dancer, telling the Mail Online: “He genuinely is my best friend but obviously we’re in a relationship.
“He’s very supportive and understanding of my career, and I’m very supportive and understanding of his. It works well.
“I hope he’s the one, otherwise I wouldn’t be with him.”
And in a new interview with the Daily Star on Sunday, she sounded confident that their relationship is strong enough to survive any ‘curse’.

Referring to Strictly 2018 – due to start in the autumn – she said: “I’m not scared – in fact, I’m really looking forward to the new series and to watching Gorka dance each week.
“I will be there most weekends, anyway. Not because I’m jealous but to support as much as possible.
“If you aren’t happy with your relationship, that’s when you need to be worried. It doesn’t matter if you are on Strictly or work in a supermarket – if you aren’t happy at home, that’s when you start looking elsewhere.”
Earlier this week, the couple sparked excitement by sharing a selfie on social media, with some fans believing they were announcing their engagement.
In the snap, Gemma was seen standing behind Gorka with her hand in the air, and a number of followers initially thought she was showing off a ring.
One fan wrote: “For a split second I actually thought this was a proposal pic… was looking for a [ring] on your hand. Just the way you are posing.”
Another added: “Awww I thought at first glance there was.”

To be fair, Gemma has previously insisted that she’s in no rush to tie the knot with Gorka.
But who knows what might happen in the future – if they manage to swerve that dreaded ‘curse’.
