Gemma Atkinson and Gorka Marquez recently shared the exciting news that they are expecting, but now Gemma has opened up about the tougher side of pregnancy.
The former Emmerdale actress spoke on her cravings, her plans for exercising and also admitted that it has been “hard” at times during a video posted to her Instagram Story.
The 34-year-old fitness fanatic had to have some time off from the gym at first but now she is back working out with her trainer, “Evil Steve”.
She said: “I’m not doing the same kind of workouts I was doing as you need to adjust. Every pregnancy is different. The first few weeks I couldn’t really do anything because I didn’t feel very well, so I just listened to my body.”
Gemma also confessed that she wants to try to eat healthier for her baby’s sake but she has been craving carbs, especially “a lot of bread”.
She added: “But the main thing is my food – I want to eat more nutritious stuff than before, because I’m aware it ain’t about me anymore. I’m just a kind of carrier of this little being that I need to keep healthy. It’s weird how it switches you up mentally!
“It is tough though. I take my hat off to women who have done this more than once. Because it’s ruddy hard at times! But I’m loving it, and I cannot wait to get back with Evil Steve tomorrow.”
The star is having her first child with 28-year-old boyfriend Gorka. The pair met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017 and went public with their romance in February last year. They moved in together last December, in Gemma’s native Manchester.
They announced their pregnancy news in the sweetest way, with Gemma’s two dogs wearing signs that read: “Guess what…Mum’s pregnant.
“We’re going to be big brothers.”

Gorka celebrated their exciting news by getting a huge tattoo of a tiger’s face on his back at the weekend!
He shared a snap of him getting the inking on Instagram.

The professional dancer gushed that becoming a father is the “greatest gift” Gemma could give him.
