Gemma Atkinson swears at critics of her parenting

She's had enough of the unsolicited comments

Gemma Atkinson has told critics of her parenting to “go [bleep] themselves”.

The former Emmerdale actress and her partner Gorka Marquez welcomed their daughter Mia into the world eight weeks ago and the 34-year-old star has been left infuriated by the unsolicited advice she’s already received on raising her little girl.

She shared a meme on Instagram which read: “On your mark, get set, go [bleep] yourself.”

Alongside the post, she wrote: “She shouldn’t have a dummy.

“It’s not cold enough for a hat.

“I hope you’re breast feeding.

“Get a proper pram.

“Can’t believe you wake her to feed.

“She doesn’t need two blankets.

“She shouldn’t be around the dogs.

“Her heads not supported on that.

“She’s sat too low in the papoose.

“Put mittens on her.

“Can’t believe you went out without her already.”

“Above is just a small list of what’s been said to me on here since having Mia. She’s not even 8 weeks old. (sic)”

But the former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale star insisted she wasn’t discounting all the advice she was offered.

I’ve been lucky enough to get out and about with Mia more frequently now I’ve passed the 6 week post C section mark. Not going to lie, the first time was daunting! Would she be ok with the traffic, other people, the weather, the noise 🤦🏼‍♀😂 Ridiculous really but as a first time mum all of the above passed through my mind. I was chatting to another mum though who felt the exact same and it’s so nice to know it’s not just me! Talking to like minded mums and getting tips has been so helpful to me. Encouragement without judgment is what’s needed. If you feel the same, you can download the @peanut app. It introduces you to mums in your neighborhood so you can meet, chat, arrange playdates or just get some support and advice. The women on there are so supportive and helpful. It’s the Little things that make a big difference! 😊 #peanutapp #ad

She added: “I’m absolutely all for getting help and advice! But there’s ways to do it.

“So to those people who seem to be the unqualified experts when it comes to being a mum, the above is for you.

“Print it and hang it on the wall next to your perfect parent award.”

Gemma recently defended having had a cesarean section to deliver Mia after someone joked she’d taken the “easy option”.

A lady recently joked with me that id had the easy option when it came to having Mia as I didn’t experience “proper labour” she wasn’t being nasty, she said it in jest and she was actually really lovely, but it did get me thinking when I got home. Had I failed? Had I not done it “properly” ? After a good chat with myself i came to the conclusion that the only “proper” way to have a baby is the way that’s safest for you and your baby. There is nothing easy about having a section. There is nothing easy about a vaginal delivery. They are both tiring, scary, emotionally draining and each have their own recovery process both mentally & physically. However you brought your baby into the world was right for you and your baby at that time and that’s what matters. To any mums who like me, had to have a section and are feeling a little odd about it (which is normal) the above is for you. ❤️
