Gemma Collins admits ‘no day is to be taken for granted’ as she shares mum is in hospital

Reality star Gemma Collins has shared a poignant message with fans after giving an update on her mum Joan’s health.

The former TOWIE star has revealed that her mum, Joan, has been unexpectedly hospitalised.

Gemma took to social media to share the news, posting a photo of herself and Joan enjoying family time.

The pair are seen playing in a swimming pool with her brother Russell and his sons Kane and Hayden.

She wrote alongside the post: “No day is to be taken for granted, mum went for a check up and was kept in hospital last night.

“This year has been one thing after another, sending love to @joancollins1, hurry home we LOVE YOU.”

Gemma’s former co-star Carol Wright – the mum of Mark and Jessica Wright – commented: “Sending love to your mumma.”

Fans were also quick to offer their messages of support to Gemma.

One wrote: “I hope your mum is ok Gemma and I feel this, my mum’s going through cancer and she went into hospital two weeks ago and she still in there now.

“Just want her to get better now, I hate seeing her so ill and people don’t get why you can’t just drop everything to see them.”

A second offered: “Get well soon mumma Collins,” alongside a bandaged heart emoji.

Meanwhile, a third wrote: “Hope your mum has a speedy recovery.”

Gemma’s tough time

Gemma opened up in June about her mum’s health struggles, saying doctors would not resuscitate her if she died.

She told The Sun: “I’ve had a lot of stress the last couple of weeks. My mum was suddenly taken into hospital and I was told she could die. They would not resuscitate her if she went into cardiac arrest.”

Gemma continued to reveal how her fiancé Rami Hawash’s father had died, her dog Blue had been attack and she had lost another pet in the space of a week.

She said: “Rami’s father passed away, which was also a massive shock. Then someone bit my dog and then my chicken died.

“It’s a lot to deal with for one person in a week. And you know, I still have to go to work.”
