Former Emmerdale star Gemma Oaten has opened up about her relationship with DIY SOS host Nick Knowles.
She has also revealed that he ended their romance as they lay in bed together.
It seems that their time together was finished the moment that Nick was told that the Sunday Mirror had snaps of the pair cosying up together outside a London hotel.
Gemma has decided to speak out to the Sunday Mirror though, as she feels that she has come out of this affair looking like a homewrecker and feels it was time for the truth to be told.
Nick, 54, has claimed that he was “working through things” with his wife Jessica and that he only went on one date with Gemma. She wants everyone to know that this wasn’t the case and that they were full-on dating.
The 32-year-old soap star said: “I am reluctantly being forced to speak out as I have been painted in the worst way possible.
“I don’t think he is deep down malicious, but he needs to know he can’t treat people like this.”
Gemma has also revealed that she thought it was cruel how their relationship unravelled.
She continued: “One Sunday morning we were lying in bed and all these texts came through about us being photographed together.
“In an instant he completely changed. It was all about him and how it was going to affect his family.
“It was really cruel as he said it didn’t matter for me.”
Following pictures that were published in the Sunday Mirror, Nick looked to distance himself from Gemma as quickly as possible.
Gemma said that his personality changed as they laid together looking at the pics and he turned cold towards her.
She sais: “I felt sick. I said, ‘do you want to throw away what we have got? We have done nothing wrong.’
“But he just dropped me like a ton of bricks.”
Gemma claims that Nick had said that his marriage was over and that he would never go back to her.
After the pictures were made public, Nick let everyone know that he was trying to win his wife back and that Gemma was “obsessed” with him.
This is contrary to how Gemma says that the she met Nick.
She said that they were introduced to each other at an awards night at the Dorchester hotel in London.
About their meeting, Gemma said: “Nick told me how beautiful I was and turned to my gay best friend and said ‘you must be a very lucky man’.
“He replied, ‘all her best friends are gay, so that’s why she is single. And she meets too many idiots.’
“Nick laughed and said to me, ‘well I’m not gay, I’m single and I’m not an idiot.
“Let me take you out for dinner’.”
It was later, after having their first kiss, that the pair were snapped at the Langham Hotel, where they went for some late night drinks.
Gemma claimed that she was “swept off my feet” as they began dating.
She revealed: “It was like a family-friendly version of Pretty Woman.
“He said I could buy anything I wanted. It was so surreal.
“I usually get wooed with a pint down the local in Hull.”
She continued: “He was taking care of me. He said ‘you deserve the best, and I am going to give you it’.
“He treated me like a princess.
” I thought it was a real relationship and he wasn’t afraid to let others know.
“He said him and Jess were never going to be together.
“I would have steered clear if he wanted to get back with her.”
