The 21-year-old student was run over in the street last week and had been in intensive care with severe head injuries.
At the time, she was believed to be in a stable condition and mum Toni was praying for her daughter to pull through.
“Everybody at Southmead Hospital has been amazing, they have been working “24/7” to make sure she is alright, ” she said.
“I would like to thank everyone in Clevedon for praying for our daughter.
“They have been holding church services, Bristol’s Buddha centre has also been helping – everybody across different religions has been so amazing.”
However, yesterday Harriet’s condition worsened and, despite attempts from medics, she lost her life.
At the time of writing the family were yet to comment on the young student’s death, but Jaymi Hensley, George’s old Union J band mate, paid tribute to Harriet by posting a broken heart emoji on Twitter.
Fans were fast to pass on their condolences.
One fan spoke for many and said: “So much love and prayers for @higeorgeshelley & his family”
While another fan said: “RIP angel, my thoughts go out to George and his family at this time.”
