Eurovision host Graham Norton – who is on Saturday Kitchen this weekend (September 7) – once opened up on the impact his bad back has had on his life.
The Irish star, 61, made the confession back in 2021. However, remaining booked and busy, it seems Graham hasn’t let his aches and pains affect his workload.
Eurovision host Graham Norton on his bad back
During an interview with the Express three years ago, Graham opened up about the aches and pains he’s developed as he’s gotten older.
“There are no quick fixes,” he said in relation to his health, before describing his body as a “pretty ropey secondhand car”.
“Your body doesn’t know that it’s a milestone because it’s just getting on with it I suppose. There was a slow, slow thing that happened – I now have to worry about my back and go to the physio. Dull things like that,” he said.
‘You need to do these for the rest of your life’
The TV star – who’s been a firm favourite on our screens for decades – then continued.
“If you’re a kid and you have something wrong with you, it gets mended. When you’re 58, you need to keep doing those exercises for the rest of your life, or your back will be bad again,” he then added.
According to the NHS website, adults over the age of 50 can be especially vulnerable to back problems, particularly lower back pain.
This is usually mainly down to wear and tear of joints, spinal discs and other structures as the body ages. Exercise and a healthy diet can help to ease symptoms.
