Well! It transpires that the most wholesome show on the box isn’t above a little televisual deception.
Great British Bake Off has been fibbing to us, people!
Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood are frauds. Okay, that’s probably a little harsh, but the pair have colluded in a little lie the show has been peddling – they don’t make the cakes that they show off as perfect examples of baked bliss to contestants…
Knock us flat with a treacle tart! Can you believe that?
When Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood bring out the perfect cakes to show the competitors how it should be done, they have not actually DONE IT.

The delicious baked goods are actually made by the loving hands of expert bakers hired by the show’s production company, Love Productions.
So, when the judges tell the eager contestants how the treats presented to them have been made, they are talking about how other people made ’em.
(Although we are sure both are perfectly capable and have made the same items a million times over…)
A GBBO insider told The Sun on Sunday: “Mary and Paul have never made a single cake in the tent.
“Paul in particular often talks about what ‘we’ have done, so it will come as a shock to fans.”
Love Productions have held their hands up: “No, Paul and Mary don’t make the cakes. They never have.
“They are baked on the day and Paul and Mary could never do that.”
Dough!
