It was always going to be difficult for it to compete.
But when the Great British Bake Off moved from BBC to Channel 4 and got a new line-up, producers would have been hoping that the stars involved in the show at least liked each other.
Turns out… not so much.
According to The Sun, new show recruit Prue Leith – a baking legend that will judge alongside Paul Hollywood – has told staff that she ‘can’t stand’ Paul.

A source told the paper: “The feeling backstage has totally changed with the new line-up.”
But it gets worse. It’s one thing not liking Paul, it’s quite another not liking cake.
And yet apparently presenter Noel Fielding has that issue.
“Noel has struggled to adjust to the totally different environment and has been saying he doesn’t want to taste too many of the cakes because he’s worried about getting fat,” says the source.

We mean his trousers are awfully tight already but erm, this is Bake Off. What did you think you were sampling? Kale smoothies? The contestants’ best take on a light and fresh sushi roll?
It gets worse too as apparently Sandi Toksvig, who’ll be presenting with Paul, isn’t quite gelling with the show like Mel and Sue either.
“Sandi does not seem to have any interest in the contestants off screen like Mel and Sue used to,” said the source, who added that Sandi spends most of the time backstage in her trailer knitting.
We repeat, there is cake around.
KNITTING? If we were backstage at GBBO, the only hobbies we would have would be eating said cake then walking round telling everyone we’d eaten too much cake.
