Kanye West was taken to hospital for psychiatric evaluation – just DAYS after the anniversary of his mother’s death.
His mom Donda West, who was extremely close to the rapper, died on November 10, 2007 – from complications while recovering from liposuction and breast reduction surgery.
Now sources say grief is behind Kanye’s recent erratic behavior and emotional breakdown.
“His mother died in November, so this time of year always brings him a lot of pain,” a source told People.
“He keeps that pain internalized, but sometimes will talk about how hard this time of year is for him.
“He works through the pain every November.”
Kanye was handcuffed to a stretcher and taken to a Los Angeles hospital on Monday – after cops responded to a call of a “psychiatric emergency”, TMZ reported.
It comes after his wife Kim was held at gunpoint and robbed jewelry worth millions of dollars in Paris last month.
The hip hop star, who canceled the remaining 21 dates of his Saint Pablo tour after a series of epic rants, feels like he is under ‘spiritual attack’ and has done for a while, according to the insider.
“It’s not just the big things; it’s smaller, quieter things, internal things.
“You might think that it’s about Kim’s robbery, and while that didn’t help, that’s not what’s going on here.
“He’s dealing with a lot more subtle issues.”
The source added: “Sometimes, darkness creeps in, and Kanye wrestles against it.
“He talks about that a lot. It’s exhausting, and it takes everything he’s got.”
