He is one of the biggest stars on the box, and has been leading up the Mitchell family in EastEnders for 27 years.
But actor Steve McFadden can also be found touring the nightclubs of Britain and charging fans a fiver a time for a photo with him.
In an unexpected move, the 57-year-old soap legend has signed up for a tour of personal appearances, to meet and greet fans in places such as Hull, Bognor Regis, Norwich, Bolton and Fife.
It’s a world away from the life of Walford hardman Phil Mitchell, who seems like he barely even wants to spend time with his own family, let alone a load of party-loving strangers.
The charge for the fan meet and greets is just five pounds, which covers entry to the club and a chance to meet the EastEnders icon who will, apparently “selfie with everyone”.
Promo posters for each of the live PAs have been shared all over the internet.
According to one of the venues, the award-winning actor is “well up for a laugh”. And they are also holding a competition with the prize being a night out with Steve for the winner and their friends.
His alter ego Phil Mitchell is currently enjoying a break from Albert Square, as he and wife Sharon (Letitia Dean) have gone on holiday abroad to help Phil recover from his recent liver transplant.
The tour, which started this week, will also see Steve visit Coventry, Sutton, Redditch, Stafford Oldham and Falkirk.
And given his fondness for the booze, it’s a good job that it’s Steve visiting the nightclubs, and not Phil. Their bar budgets – and his health – definitely couldn’t handle it.
Some of the clubs taking part are capitalising on the boozy bad boy’s reputation for hitting the bottle hard, sending out tweets with pictures of him at his drunken best and inviting clubbers to come along and “Get Phil Mitchelled!”
Ooh, his mum Peggy would be turning in her grave…
