Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have opted against a traditional sit-down meal at their afternoon wedding reception.
The couple have instead chosen to serve their afternoon guests “bowl food” that can be eaten standing up, allowing for a more casual environment and the opportunity for people to mingle.
According to reports, there will also be “two-bite” canapés on offer, both sweet and savoury.
It may seem a bold move to some, given a sit-down meal is often seen as the traditional wedding breakfast choice.
But with around 600 guests attending the afternoon luncheon, it probably makes a bit more sense and is slightly easier to do things this way than arrange 600 hot dinners coming out at the same time!

Royal chef Mark Flanagan told ITV News that Harry, 33, and Meghan, 36, had been very involved in choosing what dishes to serve, and had tasted everything on offer.
He said: “We know the couple wanted us to make sure we used all of the local seasonal produce as much as possible throughout their menu, and this recent good weather is really helping us to achieve that.”
Mark has not revealed the exact dishes that will be served, but said much of the seasonal produce had been sourced from The Queen’s estates.
He added of the food: “There is no experimentation on Saturday whatsoever, tried and tested and predominantly classics.”
Sounds delicious!
Mark’s team of 30-strong chefs will start washing, peeling and preparing veg this week, allowing them to focus their attention on presentation on the big day.
Around 600 guests have been invited to St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on Saturday to watch Harry and Meghan tie the knot. An afternoon reception at St. George’s Hall will follow.
There is expected to be an evening dinner at the later Frogmore House reception, hosted by Harry’s dad Prince Charles, to which a select number of guests have been invited.
The menu for that event will be created by a different team of caterers and has not been revealed.
In other food news, the couple previously announced their wedding cake will be made by London bakery, Violet Cakes.
American pastry chef, Claire Ptak, will create a lemon elderflower cake covered with buttercream and decorated with fresh flowers.
Claire first met Meghan when the future royal interviewed the chef for her now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig.
Harry and Meghan will marry at midday on Saturday, followed by a carriage procession through the streets of Windsor from 1pm.

The best man will be Harry’s brother, The Duke of Cambridge, while Meghan will eschew a maid of honour and bridesmaids in favour of young flower girls and page boys. It’s expected that Harry’s nephew and niece, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, will be among them.
Details of Meghan’s dress will not be revealed until she arrives at the chapel.
The former actress will be accompanied to the ceremony in a car by mother Doria Ragland, while her father, Thomas Markle, will then walk her down the aisle.
