Harry Redknapp reportedly came to the rescue of an extremely drunk Paul Gascoigne earlier this week.

According to various sources in the The Mirror, the former football manager was enjoying a quiet dinner with his wife Sandra at posh Bournemouth restaurant 1805, when a drunken Gazza burst on the scene.

Stunned onlookers watched as Gazza interrupted the couple’s meal, and Harry desperately tried to sober him up with food and water.

A source told the paper: “Harry was a real hero. He just sprang into action.

“Gazza was in a really bad way. He was off his head, stumbling all over the place.”

A second source said that the meeting seemed coincidental, and Harry appeared shocked to bump into the fallen football legend.

“It was totally random. Gazza hadn’t made any arrangement to meet Harry and his wife. He just bumped into them,” they claimed.

“Harry was really concerned at the state of Gazza,” the source revealed.

A restaurant staffer said that Harry was able to calm a clearly agitated Paul down: “Paul burst in at about 9.45pm and was very, very drunk.

“Thankfully it was late so not many customers were disturbed. Mr Redknapp was very calm while Paul seemed agitated until they convinced him to join them.

“I don’t know what Harry was saying but it seemed to work.”

Apparently once they’d finished their food, Harry bundled Paul into his car and drove him home.

Paul, who once played for the England football team, has been struggling with alcoholism for years, and is believed to have attended rehab several times.

Ent Daily has contacted Harry’s rep for comment.
