Emmerdale star Adam Thomas has quit his role as Adam Barton after eight years on the soap, and his exit will be screened early in the new year.
The soap favourite has recently filmed his last scenes and is now busying himself with panto.
Although he only left his Dales family a few weeks ago, he’s already missing them – and it seems he’s having second thoughts about his decision to quit.
He tweeted the show, saying: “Dear @ emmerdale I know it’s only been a few weeks but am ready to come bk now even if I am a ghost… it’s been done before,” he tweeted to his 339k followers this morning.
A ghost? A GHOST? Erm, what exactly is he saying here? Surely Adam hasn’t been killed off!
We’d have put money on him going down for Emma’s murder as his exit plot.
Speaking previously about his departure, Adam admitted: “I’ve had an amazing eight years working on Emmerdale and I’ve loved every minute of it.
“It was a really tough decision to take to leave but I felt that now is the time to move on and challenge myself with some new roles.”
“I’d like to thank everyone at Emmerdale for both giving me the opportunity to work as part of such a great team and for giving my character Adam Barton some great storylines too.”
Emmerdale show runner Iain MacLeod has teased that Adam Barton’s exit will be epic – but a death?!
“Everyone will be really gutted to see Adam go – he’s a top bloke and a really talented actor,” he said.
“But he’s given us a lot of notice, so we’ve been able to prepare a huge exit story for him.
“I’m really excited to see it play out on screen – however sad it will be to wave goodbye to such a brilliant character and cast member.”
Whatever plays out on screen, or however Adam’s future ties with Emmerdale pan out, he has something lovely to look forward to next year – he and wife Caroline are expecting their second child.
