Holly Willoughby apologises for Joey Essex outburst on live TV

Lesson about checking mics are off here!

Joey Essex stunned This Morning presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield by accidentally swearing on the show.

The former The Only Way is Essex star was on the live ITV programme to promote his upcoming second stint on Celebs Go Dating.

Prior to his interview, the camera panned to Joey in his dressing room enjoying some champagne and strawberries, before then heading over to Gino D’Acampo in the kitchen for a cooking segment.

But as Gino began talking about the recipe he would be cooking later in the show, Joey could be heard moaning about the fact he had dropped the strawberry in his VT, letting rip with a stream of naughty words.

Hosts Holly and Phillip struggled to maintain straight faces as they apologised for the blunder, with Holly giggling: “Just in case anyone heard Joey Essex off camera just then, we apologise.

“He didn’t know his microphone was on.”

Phillip then poked fun at Joey’s infamous lack of intelligence, adding: “I didn’t know he knew any words that big!”

Fans were quick to take to Twitter to comment on the hilarious error, with one writing: “Awkward when they don’t turn off a mic and Joey Essex is effing and blinding somewhere in the background…”

Another person tweeted: “There’s been a tech blooper, can still hear Joey Essex and he’s swearing like a trooper!”

Joey later appeared on the programme to discuss his search for love again on Celebs Go Dating, after proving unsuccessful on the first series of the Channel 4 show.

Speaking to Holly and Phillip about why he has yet to find “The One”, Joey mused: “I’m not normal.

“I don’t think I am that normal. I just don’t think that some people get me.

“I feel like a girl’s gotta get me to understand who I am.

“I think they need to understand my job, they need to understand that my job is being me, being Joey Essex on TV, being me in real life. It’s hard to get your head around.”
