Tot joins the actress's five-year-old son

Natalie Portman has given birth to a baby girl.

A representative for the Oscar-winning actress said that Natalie and her husband, Benjamin Millepied, welcomed daughter Amalia on February 22.

This is the second child for the couple, who wed in 2012. Their son, Aleph, is 5.

Natalie, 35, was nominated for best actress for her starring role in Jackie at Sunday’s Academy Awards, but she did not attend the ceremony, having given birth just days before.

Benjamin, 39, is a dancer and choreographer who worked on the film Black Swan.

He is the founder and director of LA Dance Project, a contemporary dance company that works with emerging and established artists.

Earlier this week, another new mummy, Alex Jones, revealed her baby boy’s name, one month after welcoming him to the world.

The One Show presenter uploaded a sweet photo of the birth certificate on Instagram, writing: “Teddy Thomson is official. ❤️.”

Her tiny tot was born at the Queen Charlotte hospital in Hammersmith and Fulham on 22nd January 2017.

The 39-year-old had been very tight-lipped about what she and husband Charlie Thompson were going to call him.

Opening up about the birth, she also told the BBC’s chat show hosts: “He was 7lbs 11oz – a lovely weight. It was all very straightforward.

She added: “It’s the most wonderful feeling. We’re in this bubble the three of us. It’s just the best time.”
