As Donald Trump was celebrating his shock election win – Hollywood was freaking out.
Hillary Clinton’s army of celebrity supporters took to social media in droves to vent their frustration – and shock – that Trump was on his way to the White House.
Outspoken model Chrissy Teigen blasted people for “wasting” votes by voting for one of the other two candidates, tweeting: “I cannot believe this is real. I can’t believe Donald Trump has the honor of winning ANY state at all.”
Pop star Ariana Grande posted: “well this is utterly terrifying…I am in tears”
Musician Moby didn’t hold back, writing on Instagram: “I’d always known that there was racism and misogyny in America but I had no idea it was this virulent and widespread.
“I mean, the USA is an inch away from electing a man who has ruined businesses, bragged about sexually assaulting women, and spewed racist hate speech. America you are breaking my heart.”
Victoria’s Secret model Bella Hadid simply: “What the f*ck… This is disgusting!” as media outlets started reporting Trump has won the race.
Singer Cher, who has been using a toilet emoji in place of Trump’s name, wrote: “world will never be the same. I feel Sad for the young.will never be more than the toilet, I’ve used as a symbol 4 Him.”
Lady Gaga, who had even changed her Twitter name to #VoteHillary for the night, wrote: “Say a prayer America.”
She was one of many celebrities who had had turned up to Hillary’s election night party in New York – expecting to celebrate her win – before being told to go home at around 2am.
Earlier in the night she had posted a picture of herself partying with actress Lena Dunham captioned: “Lovin it up with the ladies.!!! GO HILLARY”.
Katy Perry, who was also at the party, tweeted: “Gonna cry my false eye lashes off tonight,” before adding later: “WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED”.
