The revival of Blind Date on Channel 5 has got a lot of people talking over whether it’s a good idea without original host Cilla Black.
Cilla presented the show from it’s beginnings in 1985 to the final episode on 2003, so fans need to know the show’s going to be in safe hands with its new host.
So who better to take over than one of her very best friends: Paul O’Grady!
For The Love Of Dogs presenter Paul has signed on the dotted line to take over the reins.

He and Cilla were very close, often seen out together, and he gave a touching tribute at her funeral in 2015.
Speaking of his new role, Paul said:
“Blind Date is an incredibly special family show which brought laughter, tears and joy to TV viewers throughout the land.
“I am honoured to present the brand new series and after speaking to Channel 5, I know the series is in safe hands. I can’t wait to see if we can find love.”
Ben Frow, director of programming at Channel 5 added:
“Paul is the perfect choice to bridge the old and the new, capturing the essence and charm of a series that became staple Saturday night family viewing in living rooms up and down country, whilst attracting and appealing to a whole new generation of TV viewers.”
Although the basic premise of the show will remain the same – one contestant has to choose between three potential matches who are hidden behind a screen – it’s set to get a 21st century update.

For the first time ever LGBT contestants will be taking part and the show has vowed to be more diverse.
Another of Cilla’s friends, Christopher Biggins, had previously spoken to The Sun about how he wasn’t keen on the idea of the revival, saying “I don’t think they should do it.”
Maybe he’ll change his mind now he knows who’s at the helm.
