The song, titled This Kind of Love from an unreleased album Trojan Souls, was written with Sir Elton John in the 1990s but never officially finished.
The lyrics include: “This empty house seems to get colder and colder. So won’t you stay here with me?”
Fans immediately asked for the song to come out officially and be edited to share with the world in his memory.
However, Andrew Ridgeley, his Wham! bandmember has urged fans to enjoy the material Michael had authorised in his lifetime.
One fan suggested to him that the track should be released to raise money for George’s preferred charities, but Ridgeley tweeted back: “No, #GM [George Michael] controlled all his output. I, nor anyone else have the right to transgress that principle.”
He then went on to address the way in which The Sun have previously treated George’s media coverage.
He tweeted: “Dear All, u have the luxury of choosing whether or not to engage with The Sun, I do not, once they’d proposed it the rest was firefighting.”
He also wanted to stop all the media from calling George a “Wham! singer” because it is a “disservice to his memory”.

A lot of people have said how amazing it is to hear unreleased music from the Faith singer but there have been some that don’t think it’s a good idea.
One said: “I disagree really. George obviously never wanted us to hear it.”
Others thought that it was disrespectful to share a song that he didn’t want to be released.
The singer’s representatives have not yet confirmed plans for any future releases.
Three of the top five albums on the iTunes chart are currently by Michael or Wham!, making up a total of 11 of the top 100.
A further 23 songs have made the singles chart, with Careless Whisper currently at number nine.
