Hustle star Robert Glenister dramatically collapses on stage

The audience was worried when the curtain swished shut during the show

Hustle star Robert Glenister shocked theatre-goers when he collapsed mid-performance and slumped on to the stage.

The 57-year-old actor was performing in Glengarry Glen Ross at the Playhouse Theatre in London when, about 20 minutes into the show, he fell forward.

Audience members said the star clutched his chest and said “oh god” before collapsing.

Co-star Don Warrington, who was also on-stage at the time, tried to cover for the poorly actor by putting his head in his lap as though it was part of the show.

But the curtain swung shut, leaving the audience worried that something terrible had happened to poor Robert.

One theatre critic, Neil Durham from monstagigz.com, reported that the audience was asked to stay in their seats while Robert was given medical attention.

It was 20 minutes before a member of staff came on stage and let theatre-goers know that while Robert was now well enough to get up, unfortunately the show would be cancelled.

All the fans had to leave the theatre, though they were given information about how to get their ticket money back.

And Robert’s co-star, Hollywood actor Christian Slater, personally apologised to the audience for their ruined night.

He later appeared in the bar, posing for selfies with fans and chatting with them about how he hoped they would come back and see the show another time.

Later a message was posted on the show’s Twitter account saying: “We are pleased to report that Robert is okay and we look forward to welcoming affected patrons back to the show soon.”

There is no word yet about whether Robert will be back on stage in the play.

The show, which opened on October 26, has already been getting rave reviews.

“Probably the best I’ve seen in London,” one theatregoer gushed. While another said: “Brilliant performance tonight.”
