Danny Baker first to leave ‘I’m A Celebrity’ as royals enjoy immunity

Ant and Dec revealed the first eviction

DJ Danny Baker became the first contestant to leave I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Cheerful Danny chuckled after finding out he was the last person into the camp and now had become the first to be voted out, telling hosts: “My winning personality once again descends upon the nation.”

He said he felt “absolutely tremendous” and said that people could have turfed him out because he might have appeared a bit “cavalier” about wanting to stay in the camp.

Campers Wayne Bridge and Adam Thomas had been immune from the show’s first live eviction after successfully seeing off a royal challenge from Scarlett Moffatt and Lisa Snowdon.

As members of the programme’s royal camp sub-group, ex-footballer Wayne and Emmerdale actor Adam were voted to take on two subjects from the main camp hoping to win their privileged places from them in a task titled Gates To Hell.

Scarlett and Lisa were picked to do battle with the pair but failed to capitalise on their opportunity after a bushtucker trial that saw the celebrities race through a mine shaft filled with mud crabs, ant nests, and 5,000 cockroaches.

Wayne and Adam re-joined Olympic hockey player Sam Quek and professional dancer Ola Jordan at luxury camp Snake Rock.

The two royals relished their position of immunity ahead of the first eviction on Friday night, as Wayne said: “I’ve got immunity, a banquet and a hot shower, I’m happy.”

Adam, who saw off comedian Joel Dommett in Thursday’s trial, said: “People have tried to take my throne and I’ve beat them, King Adam lives on.”

Former radio and television presenter Lisa said she was “gutted” not to have immunity, adding: “I don’t want to go just yet, I’m having a ball.”

However, the losing pair were later invited back to join the four royals for a banquet of lamb shanks, wild boar, green vegetables, root vegetables, rustic bread rolls and wine after they beat the remaining subjects in a challenge titled Knights In Muddy Armour.

The battle, which involved the subjects pairing up with half wearing blindfolds while the others offered directions to find stars in the mud, led to Scarlett revealing she had been nicknamed “Sat Nav Scarlett” by partner Lisa.

She said: “I once stepped out of work out the back door rather than the front door, got disoriented and I had to call a taxi to get me home.”

Disappointed with another meal of rice and beans, Homes Under The Hammer presenter Martin Roberts attempted to convince his fellow subjects to rise up against the royals earning a stern telling off from actor Larry Lamb.

Martin said: “It occurred to me, perhaps not unreasonable that the peasants stage a revolt,” with Larry replying it was one of his “worst ideas”.

Larry added: “We’ve had a nice cosy time here Martin, if you want to rock the boat, get on and rock boy, we’ll clap you as you do it.”

As the group pondered the first eviction Martin told his camp-mates they were “all his mates and friends” and thanked the group for welcoming him and Danny as latecomers to the group.

Meanwhile, Joel compared the group to the Power Rangers in that they would be useless on their own but stronger together before Danny added: “I’ve never done anything like this, but this has far exceeded any expectations of mine.

“Nothing like this has ever happened to me and it’s been an absolute pleasure.”

I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! returns at 9.50pm tonight.
