Sad Jack Tweed remembers the woman he loved

The pic was taken in a joyful moment before his sweetheart discovered she had the deadly disease.

Jade was told she had cancer in the diary room of India’s Big Brother TV show.

Jack’s tweet read: “5th June, 1981 – 22nd march, 2009 #RememberJade #rip #smeartest.”

Loyal fans have never forgotten Jade and many sent their support to bereaved Jack.

One wrote: “Rip jade. never forgotten.”

Another put: “Can’t believe it’s 8 years already rip jade x.”

And his message clearly got through. One female follower wrote: “Off for mine today…#smeartest.”

Jade and Jack married in 2009 just three months before she passed away, shocking devotees with her hair loss but inspiring millions with her strength and bright smile in the face of sorrow.

The 29-year-old started something that’s now been called the Jade Goody Effect, prompting a big rise in women going for smear tests after her public diagnosis.

Jade only had a week to plan her wedding after she was told the news that her cancer had spread to other parts of her body and she only had weeks to live.

She passed away quietly at home surrounded by her family – including Bobby and Freddie, her sons with TV presenter Jeff Brazier – a month later.

Chatting previously about surely the most tear-jerking celebrity wedding ever, Jack said: “There were mixed emotions but that day was all about happiness. I still look at my wedding pictures.

“Jade really wasn’t well leading up to it but seeing her find the strength to get up and dance was amazing. She found the energy to make it the day she wanted.”

He explained why he loved her so much: “I think it was because she was so down to earth. She never cared about what people thought. She was never scared to voice her own opinions – right or wrong. People came round to it in the end.”

Jeff Brazier now takes care of their sons, and occasionally shares pictures on social media showing how much they’ve grown.
