EastEnders star Jake Wood – AKA EastEnders tragic antihero Max Branning – has revealed some rather disappointing news that fans of the BBC One soap won’t welcome.

Despite Tanya making it back to Walford for Christmas and Boxing Day, and also a surprise appearance last week, Jake doesn’t think a full time return for his on-screen ex-wife is likely.
He told Digital Spy that, as much as a permanent return for Tanya would be welcome, actress Jo Joyner is just too busy at the moment to commit.
He said: “I don’t think she will [return], because she’s so busy doing other stuff and she’s got a family.
“She lives up north and she’s miles away from where we are. I don’t think it will happen anytime soon, but at some point in the future, you never know.”
He added: “We loved having Jo back. Tanya is a great character and it was lovely to have Jo back even if it was only for a few days.”
But even though Tanya might not be on her way back, her troubled sister Rainie (Tanya Franks) – who made a brief appearance when Abi’s life support was switched off – is returning, and Jake is pretty excited about that.
He told the website that he’s looking forward to seeing how the relationship between Rainie and Max – who can’t stand each other – plays out.
Jake went on to praise the show, saying it’s on a high with John Yorke back at the helm.

He cited some great storylines and the return of some legendary characters such as Kat Slater as the reason why the show has got a new lease of life over the past couple of months.
We couldn’t agree more!
