With the clock ticking down to the kick off of Soccer Aid 2019, Jamie Redknapp has had to admit defeat on getting the inside word on his opponents from one of football’s most beloved characters.
Jamie, 43, lines up for England against the Rest of the World this evening in the televised sporting charity spectacular.
But along with the likes of Usain Bolt, One Direction’s Niall Horan and Line of Duty star Martin Compston, he’ll also be facing a very familiar rival in their manager – his dad, Harry!
However, despite treating his dad to dinner at a swanky London restaurant ahead of Father’s Day last night (June 15), Jamie failed to drag any hints about how Harry’s strategy will play out.

“Tried to get his Rest of the World team’s @socceraid tactics out of him for tomorrow’s game but he wasn’t having any of it!” Jamie captioned a father-son snap on Instagram showing both men looking effortlessly smart and casual.
And it seems ‘casual’ is an approach to life that retired footy star Jamie believes suits his dad, 72.
Reflecting on how he had worried about Harry before the King of the Jungle travelled down under and won ITV reality series I’m A Celebrity, Jamie told the Daily Star Sunday: “As your parents get older, you do worry about them.
“It can be difficult. You go through the ups and downs. There were weekends when we’d go down to see him and I’d think that it was all getting on top of him.

“But now he’s so relaxed and chilled. He looks so happy and healthy. Even my kids say to me, ‘He looks so calm now’.”
But will Harry be as composed when the final whistle is blown? His co-manager Piers Morgan could ensure the game experiences a few controversial moments.
“If we win he’ll take all the credit and if we lose he will blame me won’t he? I can’t win,” Harry joked about Piers’ influence recently with the Sun.
Other famous faces from football and showbiz set to lace up their boots for the charity match include Eric Cantona, Robbie Williams, Sir Mo Farah, Michael Owen and Kem Cetinay.
