Eddie Rothe sadly died back in March 2021 following a battle with lung cancer.
Jane McDonald made heartwarming gesture after Eddie’s death
Back in 2022, it was revealed that Jane had raised a whopping £11,000 for a local hospice.
The 61-year-old donated 61 of her performance costumes to the Wakefield Hospice in the hope of raising money for their services.
“We cannot thank Jane enough for donating these fabulous dresses. She has been a loyal, supportive and committed advocate of the hospice over many years, and the money raised will provide much needed care and support to our patients and their families,” Helen Knowles, Director of Income Generation told the Wakefield Express at the time.

Jane also shared her thoughts on raising all that money for the hospice.
Speaking to the publication, she said: “The hospice provides a truly invaluable service to our local community, not only for the patients but also for their friends and families. To have been able to support such a cause, that is very close to my heart, is a real honour.”
She then added: “It is fantastic to know that this donation has helped raise much needed funding for the hospice.”
Jane McDonald on Ed’s death
In September 2022, Jane opened up about how Ed had taken their “future” when he died.
She made the heartbreaking admission during an appearance on Kaye Adams’ podcast, How To Be 60.
“I’m a lot better than when I was on Loose Women. I can talk about him now and just feel great that I had that amazing time with him. And it’s funny, we should talk about retiring because he retired at 59,” she said.
“And he said, ‘I promise you when you get to this age, you’ll see a difference.’ And I have. So we had lots of plans,” she then continued.
She later added: “When he died, he took our future. So I think that is, I’ve got to have a different life now. And that’s taken a bit of adjusting to, but I’ll get there. Because that’s what do, we get there.”
