The Loose Women panellist was on the show to talk about happiness in her later years. She’s lending her support to WE100, a campaign that aims to prepare society to live 100 healthy years. WE100 – a global Merck Consumer Health initiative – hopes to inspire people of all ages to try something new for the first time to help maintain mental and physical health into old age.
It was something Phillip Schofield found ironic given Janet’s reputation for being a bit of a ‘grumbler’!
“I am a grumbler,” she agreed, then quickly added: “but coming from you – pot, kettle. I am becoming a more positive person.”
She continued: “As you get older you have to recognise you’ve got stuck in routines, you’re doing what your mum, dad, grandparents did, as you get older you seek a comfort zone.
“With the advances in health care, we’re living longer and it’s really important old age is not just a physical thing but a mental thing as well. It’s about taking on new challenges.”
She revealed how she cooks one new dish every week – but that they’re not all a success.
