Janet Street Porter has told Strictly Come Dancing star Seann Walsh’s ex-girlfriend Rebecca Humphries to “get a grip” amid the kissing scandal between him and his pro partner Katya Jones.
Rebecca posted a lengthy statement to Twitter on Monday confirming she has split from comedian Seann after photos were published showing him and Katya snogging in the street after a night out.
On Tuesday’s Loose Women, Janet wasted no time in revealing what she thought of Rebecca’s statement and even took the opportunity to re-write it to what she believes Rebecca should have written.

As Ruth Langsford began reading out Rebecca’s statement, Janet interrupted: “Ruth, Ruth, Ruth, we’re already bored.”
She then produced the edited version of the statement that she had written herself.

Janet continued: “I’m a former newspaper editor and we discussed this earlier and I went ‘get a grip girl’. Now if she had brought this copy into my newspaper office – this is what I did to her statement.”
Holding up her version of the statement which had large chunks deleted and amended, Janet said: “In other words I edited it savagely into something that would connect with other women.
“I wrote, ‘I am not a victim, I am mad as hell. I am cross I was so stupid and naive. Why did I waste time on someone not worthy of me?’
“Then the stuff about it being her birthday, ‘I suspected he was up to something, I should have hung up there and then and gone out to celebrate.’
“‘My message to women everywhere: you are worth better.'”
The audience applauded and cheered as the other panellists gave their opinions on Rebecca’s statement and the kissing scandal.
Linda Robson said: “I feel sorry for her.”
Gloria Hunniford added: “It’s really sad. When he’s cheated on her the whole country knows and it’s just really embarrassing and humiliating.
“I feel really sorry for her, to do it to her on her birthday, we’re three weeks into Strictly and we’ve already got a drama.”
However, Ruth had a slightly different opinion and pointed out Seann has yet to make any public comment, so right now it’s only Rebecca who has had her say and perhaps Seann may not agree with some of what Rebecca wrote in her statement.
She said: “These things in life happen. I’m not condoning it, I’m not going to say they should be sacked. That’s what she [Rebecca] felt about her relationship.”
It comes after Seann and Katya both issued apologies on Twitter hours after the pictures of them kissing were published by The Sun on Sunday.
Seann wrote: “In light of the story in today’s newspaper I would like to offer my sincere apologies for my actions. This is no excuse but it was a one-off drunken mistake which I am truly sorry for.”

Katya, 29, said it was not a reflection of her marriage in an apology posted to her own Twitter account.
“I’m so sorry about any offence or hurt I may have caused with my actions,” she tweeted. “I wasn’t thinking and it was a one-off mistake after some drinks. I love my husband and we are very happy together, this is not a reflection on our relationship.”

On Monday, Rebecca released her statement on Twitter, insisting she’s “not a victim”.
She said: “I wasn’t sure whether to respond to events from the past week, but I feel the narrative has missed a couple of crucial elements that I would like to clear up.
“It’s incredibly good of Sean(n) and Katya to apologise in the media. I have received nothing, other than the support of my family, friends, and a host of strangers on the internet who all wanted to make sure I was OK.”

She went on: “Those pictures were taken on October 3rd. It was my birthday.
“I was alone at home when Sean texted at 10pm saying the two of them were going for one innocent drink.
“We spoke and I told him, not for the first time, that his actions over the past three weeks had led me to believe something inappropriate was going on. He aggressively, and repeatedly, called me a psycho/nuts/mental. As he has done countless times throughout our relationship when I’ve questioned his inappropriate, hurtful behaviour.

“But – this whole business has served to remind me that I am a strong, capable person who is now free; and no victim. Despite everything, I hope he gets what he wants from this. I’m not sorry I took the cat though.”
Seann has yet to respond to Rebecca’s statement. ED! has contacted his reps for comment.
