Jennifer Metcalfe enjoyed a rare night out at the 2017 Inside Soap Awards this week – and admitted that being a mum is really hard but amazing.
Looking sensational on the red carpet, it was hard to believe that the long-serving Hollyoaks star had only give birth to son, Daye, five months ago.
As Jen enjoyed her night out with boyfriend, former Geordie Shore star Greg Lake, she told OK! Online that while she was loving her new role as a mum, she also found it hard at times…

“You buzz off yourself every day because you excel yourself because you’ve got to because this little person is so demanding. But he’s absolutely amazing and I’m so in love.
“Greg’s mum was sending us pictures because she’s got him tonight and we were just like, ‘Look at him!’
“We’re going to be those sad parents that show everyone pictures and they’re like, ‘We don’t really care.'”
Revealing how she has changed since becoming a mother, Jennifer said: “I’ve got more patience than I thought – you have to have patience. His life depends on you, so you just have got to be patient.”
Jen is currently taking a year’s break from Hollyoaks to focus on motherhood, but it seems the end of her maternity leave is already on her mind.
Speaking at the Inside Soap Awards, Jen told Metro.co.uk, “I’m off until next June, but I’ll be really ready to go back by then I think.

“At the moment I’m on a conveyor belt of love, nappies, milk and trying to get some sleep,” she joked.
“Hopefully I’ll find it really natural and Daye is going to love Liverpool.”
When asked if she has any idea what’s in store for her character, Mercedes McQueen, when she gets back to filming, Jen remind tight-lipped… “I’ve not got a clue!”
