Has it been a year already? It’s hard to believe that The Voice is already coming back to our screens – and at a very competitive time of year, too.
With Celebrity Big Brother in full swing and Dancing on Ice kicking off tomorrow, it’s a busy time for the show to return.
But return it has, with the new series starting tonight.
And some of the coaches have been doing media duties to talk up the new series, with Jennifer Hudson and Sir Tom Jones dropping into Dermot O’Leary’s BBC Radio 2 breakfast show to talk about what’s coming up.
And Jennifer made some very interesting comments on the differences between UK and US contestants – having had experience with both, now that she’s also a coach on the US version.
She told Dermot: “I think you guys are more contained in a way. Obviously, America’s very expressive – they’re super energetic.
“Here you guys are more reserved, which is just a difference in style. But the talent to me is just as good.”

She went on to discuss what she’s looking for from her contestants, saying: “I’ve noticed that here in the UK it’s a different respect and appreciation for the craft of music and I love that so much.”
“I feel like here, music gets the care that it deserves. Whereas in the States it’s more about marketing, image and then talent.
“So that kind of changes it up a bit, because it’s not so much about a story, it’s more about a look, and then a voice. But here, it’s talent first.”
As The Voice fans will know, Jennifer is the reigning champion as her act Mo Adeniran won last year.
But she’ll have her work cut out for a repeat victory, as newcomer Olly Murs aims to start his tenure with a bang.
But an appearance on Loose Women yesterday left Olly red-faced, as the panel barely asked him about his new role.
Instead, they were hell-bent on finding out the truth behind the rumours of Olly dating Melanie Sykes!

Eventually, he confessed there “may have been something there” but quickly changed the subject.
