Jeremy McConnell discovers his punishment after guilty verdict for assaulting Stephanie Davis

Model was convicted earlier this week

Reality TV star Jeremy McConnell has been spared jail after assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Stephanie Davis.

Former Hollyoaks star Steph said McConnell had also threatened to throw acid in her face during the drink and drug-fuelled bust-up at her home in Rainhill, Merseyside, on March 10.

He had denied the attack, branding her a “blatant liar”, but was convicted of assaulting Steph, mother of his child, during a trial earlier this week at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court.

On Friday, he was sentenced to 20 weeks, suspended for 12 months, and 200 hours’ community service.

During the trial, the judge was shown photos of a bruise that Miss Davis said was caused by McConnell biting her arm, as well as extensive bruises to her legs and body.

The defendant called her a “fat {expletive]” during the domestic abuse, the court heard.

The pair, who began a relationship after appearing on Celebrity Big Brother, argued during the hearing at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court as Steph told how McConnell had “completely destroyed” her life.

Judge Wendy Lloyd ordered a break in proceedings when McConnell began laughing in the dock after Miss Davis broke down in tears.

The former Hollyoaks actress said: “He’s completely destroyed my life, it’s been the worst 18 months of my life.”

She told the court the couple had been out for a meal in Liverpool with friends to celebrate her birthday on the evening of March 9 and returned to her home, but McConnell then went out to a local pub with two of the friends.

She said when he returned to the house at about midnight he was “out of it” and had been taking cocaine.

The couple’s friends left and she said McConnell grabbed her by the face.

She said: “He was calling me a [expletive]. He said that I was fat, he said that no one was going to want to touch me again.”
