Jess Wright’s heartbreak over son Presley’s ‘debilitating’ life-long heart condition

'I would take his pain away in a heartbeat if I could'

Mark Wright’s sister Jess Wright has shared a health update about her son. She announced in August that he has a heart condition called Bicuspid Aortic Valve.

Jess, 39, and her husband William Lee-Kemp welcomed their son Presley Stone Lee-Kemp in May 2022. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with a rare condition, which affects the flow of blood from the heart to the rest of the body.

While opening up about the toddler’s health, the TOWIE star said she would take away his pain if she could.  Her son is required to undergo open heart surgery to tackle the disease.

Jess Wright opens up about son’s health

Like any new mum, Jess is having a hard time coping with her baby boy’s health. In an interview with Closer, she said they have to “learn to live with it now”.

When asked about her son, she said: “He’s good, thank you. It’s debilitating and it’s awful, but it is what it is.”

I would swap my heart with his any day of the week.

She is praying that her son keeps in good health and “every result is good” until he has his surgery. “You’d never know by looking at him though, because he’s a little dream. I would take his pain away in a heartbeat if I could. I would swap my heart with his any day of the week,” said an emotional Jess.

The condition means that his heart valve has only two small parts called leaflets, instead of the normal three.

While Jess and William are only focused on their son getting better, the reality star is open to having more children. So, she has got her embryos in the freezer.

Reflecting on the prospect of a bigger family, the TOWIE star said: “At the minute I’m okay with one child –but never say never, because we have got our embryos.”

Toddler has a rare heart condition

In August, Jess announced that her little one has a rare heart disease. The reality star hopes sharing her son’s journey with the serious condition could bring more awareness.

She posted a black-and-white picture of her son with her and her husband and wrote in the caption: “Something he was born with and happens to a small 1% of us. Essentially, instead of having three leaflets in his aortic valve, like most, he only has two.

“This condition affects how blood flows from the heart to the rest of the body and will require monitoring and care over time. I won’t go into the full details right now, but whilst this is please God, not a fatal disease, we are coming to terms with the fact that our son will need intervention at least twice in his life.

“By intervention, I mean open heart surgery. Saying those words out loud physically hurts my soul.”

Despite the challenges, Jess said her son will live “as normal life as the next child”, and thanked the modern-day medicine for contributing to better health.
