John Legend has voiced his concerns about pal Kanye West after the rapper was hospitalized.
The singer – who was best man at Kanye and Kim’s wedding – told CBS This Morning that he is worried for his friend.
“We were with Kim actually, you know, right before all that.
“I was concerned by what I saw, so hopefully he’s getting some rest and some time to figure things out.”
The All Of Me star also told Entertainment Tonight: “I think if he needs to rest, I think his fans will be patient and let him rest. He’ll come back stronger, hopefully.”
We sure hope so!
He added: “I’m not gonna speak out of term and speak for him,” John added about the tour cancellation. “All I can see is what [Kanye] said to the public — and that is he’s tired and needs some rest.”
John and Kanye have been friends for as long as he has been in the music business.
The pair met in 2001 and later John signed to Kanye’s label.
Their wives are also incredibly close, when Kim was considering surrogacy, John’s wife Chrissy immediately volunteered to carry her friend’s baby.
How sweet is that?!
Kim was preparing for an event in New York when she heard of the news that her hubby had been hospitalized for his own safety during a psychotic breakdown.
It has since been reported that Kanye is being treated for sleep deprivation and exhaustion.
“He is exhausted and currently dealing with sleep deprivation,” a source told People magazine.
“He went to the hospital at will under the advice of his physician. He’s fine.”
The Los Angeles Police Department have confirmed it responded to a report of disturbance but the incident was described as a “medical emergency”.
As yet it is unconfirmed how long Kanye will remain in hospital, however the rapper’s show promoter, Live Nation, confirmed that the rapper’s Saint Pablo Tour has been cancelled.
Kanye’s friends have told People magazine that they think he is suffering from “nervous exhaustion”.
“He’s just exhausted,” the source informed the weekly mag. “He’s been working around the clock on fashion design, both on his own line and the Adidas line.
“He’s a notorious workaholic, so balancing both that work – which is extremely important to him – and the rigors of the tour every night, it really wore him out.
“I’m sure Kim and his family played a part in the decision [to cancel the tour]. He’s incredibly devoted to his family.”
