Johnny Vegas assures fans he’s ‘absolutely fine’ after fall on stage

No need to panic!

Thanks to his roles in Benidorm, More Open All Hours and Ideal, Johnny Vegas is one of the country’s best-loved stand-up comedians and comic actors.

But he had to take to social media to reassure fans he was OK after a fall at a gig at the weekend.

Appearing at St Helens Citadel to mark the venue’s closure, Johnny was seen standing on top of a potter’s wheel sing New York New York towards the end of his set.

The St Helens Star reports that Johnny wobbled off the wheel and landed on his face, provoking gasps from the audience.

Johnny took to social media to reassure fans he fine after the incident.

In a tweet, Johnny said: “To all concerned who attended our @citadelsthelens farewell gig, I’m absolutely fine.

“The fall looked far worse than if felt, but you know me, ever the drama queen, I milked it for all it was worth.

“Thanks again for being there. It’s not a night out, it’s a memory.”

Many of his 380,000 followers took to Twitter to express their relief.

“Glad you’re OK mate,” one said.

Another wrote: “Great to hear to hear you are OK pal. It was a fantastic night, full of brilliant comedy and a great send off for the citadel.”

“Glad you’re OK, gave us a bit of a scare great night, superb send off,” a third replied.

It’s not the first time Johnny has sparked concerns among fans.

Back in December, he appeared to ‘collapse’ on stage during a stand-up comedy routine.

The comedian, 48, was the headline act on the Laughterhouse Live Comedy Club Variety Show at Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall on Saturday night.

A fan posted a video online at the time showing Johnny being escorted off stage by staff with fans complaining about his behaviour.

Fans were assured that this was all part of the act.
