Jonathan Ross’s screenwriter wife Jane Goldman has revealed that she was once assaulted by a rock star.
In a new interview she has revealed that, when she was 16 years old, a rock star put his hand down her dress while she waited in a taxi queue.
Jane, who has penned films such as Stardust and Kick-Ass, says that she had never really thought the incident was a big deal until she recently mentioned it to her feminist daughters Honey, 20, and Betty, 26, who were “outraged” by what they heard.
“I had always told [it] as a funny story about the time some guy stuck his hand down my dress while I was waiting for a taxi,” she told The Guardian.
She explained that because the unnamed band “lent the incident a sort of absurdity” that lead her to recount it with humour.
But no more. “I thought: ‘No, hang on; I should be as outraged as [my daughters] are.’”

She went on to admit that she suddenly realised that by telling the story in the tone she had been, she was merely making the situation sound more innocent than it actually was when in reality it wasn’t.
“Because actually, in a society where a 16-year-old getting groped by a dude, while she’s waiting for a taxi, is considered a funny anecdote, I’m contributing by telling it like that,” she said. “I suddenly realised, actually I do have a part to play.”
Jane has written the script for the new Victorian mystery thriller The Limehouse Golem which stars Douglas Booth, Bill Nighy and Daniel Mays.
Meanwhile, she is about to start work on writing a prequel to Game Of Thrones and said she has enjoyed working with the show’s main writer and author George R R Martin.
“I’ve had the pleasure of going to spend some time with him and working on things and talking about ideas.” As for when any prequel series might air…
Speaking to Game Of Thrones website, Jane garbled about her participation in the series: “Yeah, I think I can say if I was able to say what mine was — yeah, I think as a book reader or as someone who watched the series, you would say, ‘Oh, that! OK.’
“Yeah, it would be recognisable as a past event, but I think that’s probably as far as I can go.”

She added: “In terms of what spin-offs will happen, I think nobody knows at this stage of the game, but the sense I get is HBO is very keen to develop something to go on the air sooner rather than later after the series ends, which is why they’ve been in development in earnest I think.”
