Josie Gibson thinks she’s found out the gender of her baby!

Big Brother star has tested an Old Wives' Tale.

Josie Gibson has taken matters into her own hands after being unable to find out the sex of her future child at her 20-week scan.

A sonographer told the pregnant Big Brother star they couldn’t tell if she was having a boy or girl as the baby was in the wrong position at the time of her routine ultrasound.

So now the 33-year-old has decided to see if an Old Wives’ Tale can help her discover what she’s having!

With the help of a friend, she has dangled a ring on a string over her baby bump.

Legend has it that if the ring swings back and forth like a pendulum, it’s a boy. If it swings in a circular motion, it’s a girl.

Josie shared a video of her trying the test with her Instagram followers.

“We’re going to find out what we’re having,” she said as she lay down while her friend held a ring over her bump.

However, the pair got mixed up over what the direction of the swinging meant – so they interpreted the ring moving back and forth as Josie expecting a girl!

The star had to ask her followers to clarify if they had got it right as she shared the video.

“Have we got this round the right way? Up and down for a girl and round and round for a boy?”

Many told her she’d got it mixed up, meaning the back and forth motion of the ring over her stomach meant Josie could be expecting a boy!

Some of her followers said the ring test accurately predicted the sex of their babies.

“This worked for all three of my kids,” wrote one.

“Mine was right, it spun in a circle and I’m having a girl!” said another.

“I did this and mine were correct,” said a third.

However, others told her not to take too much notice of the test, as it hadn’t worked for them.

“Mine was wrong. Mine went back and forth but I had a girl,” one admitted.

“I did this when I was pregnant, said I was having a girl and I had a boy!” said another.

“Mine was wrong but who cares,” added a third, “you will have the most beautiful bundle of joy in your arms and the sex of the baby will not matter.”

A fourth agreed with these sentiments, telling Josie: “Either way, boy or girl, you’re having a baby angel and that’s so exciting!!”

Josie announced her pregnancy in Closer magazine in early May, saying she and partner Terry are over the moon.

She said: “We are so excited! I feel so relaxed and calm. Although I think I’m still in shock.

“We left our first scan and I just looked at Terry and said, ‘What have we done?!’ Life is going to change a lot, but we are so happy.”

Since then, she’s been sharing images from her scans over the last few months on Instagram.

The Bristol-based star revealed they couldn’t find out the sex at their 20-week scan as the baby was in the wrong position for the sonographer to tell.

She wrote beside that ultrasound scan: “Here we are at 20 weeks…. and I just can’t seem to work out if it’s a girl or a boy and neither could the midwifes because… well… he/she is a bendy little bugger!!”
