She wore something in her memory

The Duchess of Cambridge gave a fitting tribute to Princess Diana at the BAFTAs last night.

Kate accessorised her stunning outfit with a pair of diamond and pearl-drop earrings that belonged to Prince William’s late mother.

The 37-year-old royal looked beautiful in a white gown and her sentimental jewellery as she arrived with William, 36.

All eyes were on Kate in her floor-length Alexander McQueen dress, which complimented the stunning earrings.

The royal wore her hair up, which also showed off the special jewels.

One royal fan commented online: “Stunning”, while a second added: “Wow! Simply beautiful.”

Kate was also wearing the Queen’s diamond Quatrefoil bracelet on her wrist, which once belonged to the Queen mother.

William and Kate have been regular guests at the awards for the last few years. When Kate attended last year she was heavily pregnant with her third child, Prince Louis.

In keeping with royal protocol, BAFTA guests stood as Kate and William entered the theatre for the ceremony.

Prince William also presented the Fellowship Award at the event. He is president on the awards board.

Meanwhile, poor Kate suffered a slightly awkward moment at the end of the awards evening.

Some attendees began to filter out of the ceremony to attend the after party, but royal protocol asks that members of the royal family leave first.

So Kate was ushered out with a chaperone and she appeared to sweetly mouth “sorry” to fellow guests as they remained seated in the audience.
