Kate Wright has opened up about her engagement to Rio Ferdinand and how they are “very equal” in everything they do.
In a rare interview, the former TOWIE star has lifted the lid on the plans for their nuptials.
Kate used to be an events organiser so she certainly will have the knack for creating a special big day.
But the 28-year-old said she isn’t rushing her plans. She insists that the little details are more important to her than the grand gestures.
Kate told OK! magazine: “I have started planning the wedding very slowly. I do think about all the small things, which I think will help make the day even more special. It’s more about those little details rather than the big things.”
Kate said she loves to organise their household but she is making sure the retired footballer gets fully involved with the plans.
She added that she and 40-year-old Rio share everything equally in their life.
When asked if she is taking the reigns when it comes to wedding planning, Kate explained: “Rio and I are very equal. We share control on everything we do in life.”

She said: “I hoped I’d get married at some stage, so obviously I’m very happy and excited about that.
“It hasn’t panned out exactly how I imagined when I was a kid. Like most young girls I had the typical fairy tale in mind, but this is my own fairy tale. I can’t complain at all. I feel very lucky.”
Kate has taken on the role of being step-mum to Rio’s children.
Rio has Lorenz, 12, Tate, 10, and eight-year-old Tia from his relationship with late wife Rebecca Ellison.
