Following Keith Chegwin’s untimely death yesterday at the tender age of 60, there’s been a tide of condolences and tributes to the legendary TV entertainer.
But one celebrity has gone against the grain by making a JOKE about Cheggers’ death – and no prizes for guessing who it is.
Yep, queen of controversy Katie Hopkins posted a tweet earlier today that made light of the tragedy, and even suggested that she was in some way connected to both Cheggers’ and Peaches Geldof’s demise.
And as you might expect, some of the journalist’s followers have SLATED her for it.
Hopkins appeared with Keith on the 2015 series of Celebrity Big Brother, and was interviewed alongside Peaches on This Morning in 2013.
And the spiky journo tweeted a picture of those two TV moments, along with a caption that read: “I’m not saying there’s a pattern here. But I was the last one to film with both of them. Be warned.”
It did NOT go down well. One follower fumed: “Wow, even I didn’t realise you could make this all about you!! #Low.”
Another said: “Come on, you have crossed the line. Apologise and move on. Enough people have warned you.”

And a third scathed: “So you’re saying you had something to do with the deaths. I hope the families don’t see this post, it’s not nice.”
Cheggers passed away yesterday after a long battle with the lung disease idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
And there was another hoo-ha on social media yesterday after someone on the BBC appeared to blame the former Swap Shop presenter’s death on cigarettes.
During a segment about him on the BBC News channel, a male voice could be heard muttering: “Too much smoking probably.”

And the blunder didn’t sit at all well with some viewers. One scolded: “Omg how awful and completely disrespectful. His poor family will have to hear that, shame on you BBC.”
Another fan wrote: “Extremely ashamed at BBC News. A tragic report that Keith Chegwin has sadly passed away from ongoing lung issues, only to hear a big gaffe as someone can be heard saying…’Too much smoking probably’ #ShameOnYou.”
In response to the backlash, a BBC spokeman explained: “During a live interview, the studio had a sound issue with a guest which resulted in off-air audio being inadvertently broadcast and it was quickly rectified.”
